Is a Major Terrorist Attack inevitable?
Wed Oct 27, 2004 at 05:22:07 AM PDT
Call me paranoid, but I'm about to float a theory as to what to expect for the much vaunted "October Surprise". If you think about it, they have been setting us up for this scenario for a long time.
Sometime this weekend, the United States is going to thwart a major terrorist attack on U.S. soil. It will probably be a major city, and will most likely involve some type of nuclear weapon. It will be something big and it will be something scary. The details will be very thorough as this has probably been in the works for a long time.
Most petty story ever?

This report on my local ABC affiliate website reports that
Kerry cheers Red Sox, even when he doesn't know the score
Horrors! Kerry actually cheered his team even though he mistakenly thought the score was 10-9 instead of 11-9! Thats it, you can write off Massachusetts!
Apparently the media is going to continue trying to "gore" Kerry right up to election day.
I've noticed that this particular outfit consisently plays these little games with the news. I've call them on it before. I think I'm going to write me a letter.
I was wrong and I admit it!

Several times, in response to the question, "Do you know any Democrats who are voting for Bush this year", I have offered up the following:
This summer, my partner and I visited his father, a lifelong Democrat in rural Northern Wisconsin. We almost fell down, when, as soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted with "the picture" of George and Laura on his piano.
Damn, just got push polled
Mon Oct 18, 2004 at 08:18:32 PM PDT
It was a computer poll so no human being to talk to. I suspected it was a setup:
- Are you planning on voting in this years election. - YES
- Are you planning on Voting on Measure 36, which would solidify a marriage between one man and one woman in Oregon's Constitution - NO
- Were you aware that in Massachusetts , the only state to legalize gay marriage, they are teaching same sex education to children as early as kindergarten
AAHHHGHGHHGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure if I had stuck around they would have pointed out how the evil John Kerry is from the only state in the nation to endorse gay sex for 5 year olds.
Ugh.

Kerry did not close the deal?
Thu Sep 30, 2004 at 09:02:59 PM PDT
Okay, I've heard all of the spin tonight from both sides. Even though the general consensus
tonight is that John Kerry won, the Republican talking points are coming through loud and clear.
"Democrats were desperate to spin this debate as a Kerry win"
and
"Even though Kerry hit on a few good points tonight, he did not do what he had to do to close the deal. He did not successfully answer the President's charges as to why he keeps changing positions on Iraq".
If you find yourself in a position to discuss these debates, keep an ear open for these talking points.
Don't forget that Al Gore actually did better in the debates in 2000. It was only the spin in the subsequent days that allowed Bush to "win".

I haven't been very successful getting my letters published in my local paper. Methinks that I don't have the knack for words that many of you have. If any of you wordsmitters would be so kind as to give me some pointers, I would really, really appreciate it.
The Slime machine strikes again
Sat Aug 28, 2004 at 02:12:02 PM PDT
Did you know that John Kerry had prostate cancer? Probably so. Did you think that the Rove slime machine was above using this fact against Kerry? After the Swift Boat episode, nothing should surprise me, but I was shocked to read the following in the paper today. Get ready for the next wave of attacks on Kerry that will serve to keep the real issues out of the paper and off of the news.
Bush's Electoral College Problem
Tue Jul 20, 2004 at 08:14:33 PM PDT
First of all, let me start off by saying that I have absolutely no confidence at this point that Bush will be defeated in November. I believe that this administration is so power hungry and Machiavellian that it will take a complete miracle to pull out a victory. I think we will all be
stunned at the level this campaign will sink to in the months to come.
Nevertheless, there appears to be a bright light on the horizon. While the latest polls continue to show Bush and Kerry neck and neck in the national race, it has become clear that in the so-called battle ground states, Kerry is pulling ahead.

Let me say that I think this is the first time that I have ever agreed with Charles Krauthammer about anything. Usually I skip right over his rants without even reading them. But when I saw the title of this one, I gave it a read. Very interesting indeed.

Nick Berg's father made "enemies list"
Wed May 12, 2004 at 07:07:43 PM PDT
Maxspeak has a piece out on Michael Berg, the father of the man who was beheaded in Iraq. I'm not one who buys into conspiracy theories but the facts that we are receiving from the media and the government seem to be at odds. We may never know exactly what happened to Nick Berg his last two weeks in Iraq, but here is more fodder for the tin foil hatters among us:

GEORGE BUSH, STILL A USEFUL IDIOT
Fri May 07, 2004 at 07:28:28 AM PDT
I came across this interesting comment over on the Soapbox Alert section of congress.org. Of course I don't agree with this person's basic premise, but I do find it interesting that a Republican actually paid money to post a rant that ends in a pledge to not vote for Bush in November.
Okay, so maybe this person is plant, but I don't think so. I wonder how many other Republicans felt sold out by Bush's apology yesterday? If this keeps on, Bush is going to be mighty lonely in November.
By the way, if you go to the site, make sure to check out Pledge your Vote.
Oregon could become the first state for Nader to qualify for ballot
Mon Mar 29, 2004 at 11:46:43 PM PDT
I'm not a Nader hater, but this cannot be good news with Oregon being a swing state.
SALEM, ORE. - Oregon could become the first state to officially register Ralph Nader as a presidential candidate for the November ballot.
All the citizen activist needs in Oregon is one thousand registered voters to gather in one place, and sign their names on a petition.
Nader probably will have no problem getting those signatures when he shows up at a Portland theater on April 5.
He hopes to qualify under an unusual provision of the state's election code called the Assembly of Electors law.
Only one other state has a similar system.
Voters in Washington can place names on the presidential ballot there by holding several simultaneous meetings.
In Oregon, all voters must gather and sign a petition at the same place within 12 hours.

I know that Wisconsin was very close in 2000, but is this the year the it goes Republican?
